The Democrats’ true colors: Red

with one comment

The health-care bill died in the Senate on Wednesday – but that doesn’t mean they’re giving up. As the old saying goes, tomorrow is another day.

There’s an interesting quote from Senator Bernie Sanders (I-VT) (he’s listed as “Independent”, but that doesn’t exactly describe his political philosophy):

… Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont vowed it will return when the realization dawns that private insurance companies “are no longer needed.”

OK, that’s just Sanders, and he’s certainly entitled to his opinion – no matter how absurd it is. Not quite:

His remarks drew handshakes and even a hug or two from Democrats who had filed into the Senate to hear him.

  1. Rabid Leftists including Huffington, Kos, Dean, Olbermann, Schultz all jeer Obamacare. SEIU dropped plans to participate in a joint presser with AARP, Families USA, and others; the purpose of the presser was to promote the Senate healthcare bill, but actions by Hairy Reed have them rethinking their position of advocacy. Vermont Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders will not vote in favor, although he’s usually a rollover for the Dems.

Howard Dean on health care: “I’d vote no.” Goes on to note that he won’t “vigorously” back Obama re-election run.

These when taken together lead to an indisputable finding: In a stunning reversal of fortune for President Barack Obama, top progressives are attacking the health-reform plan moving through the Senate as “hollow,” “unsupportable” and a sellout to corporate interests. Republicans, after plotting for months to sink the signature legislation of Obama’s first year, suddenly think that Democrats might wind up doing it for them.

Lieberman has been castigated for his refusal to go along, and MoveOn announced today that they’ve raised $1 million toward the goal of removing him from office.

At last count, 63% of Americans don’t want what the Dems are pushing, David Axelrod calls them “insane”, and Obama’s numbers have dropped more steeply than any of his predecessors during the same time frame.

Democrats have devolved into eating their own on this one.
